E-commerce websites have become the wave of the future. With so many retailers struggling, and big businesses feeling the tightening of the economy, e-commerce designers are forced to deal with a public that is both nervous and protective of their lively hood.

With so many aspects of an online business, accounting, sales and company information, it is often extremely challenging for the designer of an e commerce website to overlook the one factor that concerns most people: security. The general public has become very skeptical about providing their personal information to a company that they do not know, or have not done business with in the past. Although they may like the products the company has to offer, and even trust the company itself, because they do not know the website owner they are leery to type in their social security number, their home address and their credit card number. This is the number one challenge an e-commerce website owner is facing.

There are several ways an ecommerce website owner can help the consumer feel more confident in the website and more comfortable providing them with their information.

First, the e-commerce web site owner must, make the privacy statement not only easy to read and understand, but easy to find. It must be located on the website in a place that is easily accessible to the customer. If it is written in a way that is plain and simple, the customer will immediately feel a sense of relief. Although this is easy, and has no cost, companies often neglect it because they don't understand how important it is and how much the customer must see it written out.

Secondly, the owner must offer the company a way to verify that the information is secure. This can be at a very small cost and also allows the customer to feel a sense of security when shopping. Participation in this program allows the company to display a seal on their website that ensures the security of the site.

E commerce web site owners must protect the customer at all costs, in any way they can. As the internet becomes a way for more and more people to communicate, if there is a flaw in the security of the site, it is possible for a small glitch to become known to thousands via blogs within a very short time.

The e-commerce website owner can prevent this by taking the necessary steps that will allow the customer to feel confidant that their information will not be shared. When this is done correctly, customers will not only complete their transaction, they will be more likely to return.

Youll notice help build my website has a new page in the menu buttons called "website widgets".

Im using and advanced gallery to display all the widgets I have in categories so you can find exactly the ones you want. Right now I have animal widgets, Blog widgets and Chat room widgets up, this list is going to grow significantly in the coming days. Some Things To consider Before Planning Your Ecommerce Website

1. Understanding the need of your business

2. Know Your target audience

3. Your product is vitally important. A Pictures worth a thousand words

If your website does not reflect the idea behind your business and products relatvely quickly it will not be received well.

I wouldnt advise getting too caught up in the beauty of the design, take this for instance, there are sites out there like http://www.smartyhadaparty.com (not that pretty) however the prices keep people coming back.

There are others such as http://www.boscovs.com ( alittle better looking) However once they shop their once they wont go back.....who wants to wait weeks on end for their items and then find out only part of it is coming and the other "parts" will come weeks later still.....ecommerce websites need to be easy to use, have great prices and ship quickly and you need to let you customers know your ecommerce website does ALL of this and that alone will keep them coming back.

Easy Navigation
Make sure that your website navigation is simple and easy to find. Oten times people see a product they want to order and have to jump through hoops to find it to buy it. Also, make it easy to find all your main pages. Use a common navigation bar throughout your pages, so visitors could easily get back to your home page or any other category pages.

Visible Search Bar
A great Ecommerce store should have a well placed Search Bar, which your visitors can use when they are not able to find what they are looking for, using the category navigation, it is a easy step for them to follow and if you have this placed ideally on the top of each web page it is easy to locate and use.

Buy Now or Order Button
A very visible order button is foremost important in any ecommerce website, make sure your product page has a distinctly visible Order / Buy now button.

Cross Selling Items
If you place some items related to each of products that you are selling, right next to the order page, it is lkely that your visitors will also end up buying them.

Avoid using too many images and color backgrounds, (to pretty up the ecommerce website) make your website soothing to look at and easy on the eyes. The theme should concentrate on your customers needs and quickly highlight your product /service.

Hi All,

Thanks for visiting my website. Also be sure to sign up to be a member of my site if you want to receive an email everytime I post a new blog post.

My SEO plan was this...get certain keywords that I wanted to be found by to the top of the search engines and record each week where I was in the search engines for those words. Then move on to try getting new words to the top.

I started with the words "awesome html codes". At the start of first week I was in page 12 of google and #7 on page 12...by the end of the 3rd week I was # 3 on page one of google, by the very next Monday I was #1.

Heres how I did it, (NOTE: THIS IN NO WAY MEANS THIS WILL WORK FOR YOU AS EACH SITE IS UNIQUE) (OUR SEARCH ENGINE EXPERT CAN BEST ADVISE YOU ON YOUR UNIQUE SITE.) first I blogged (the search engines DO index our blog posts !!!) about my keywords using them in sentences that made sense as if Im standing in front of you talking to you, and kept it informative as well so people wanted to read it.

Then I went into each pages page settings that had "awesome html codes" on them and I added those keywords to the page settings of every page it applied too. I also made sure the words were used on the pages where I added them as keywords but I didnt OVER use the words.

I then published the site and made sure I went to google webmaster tools and signed up and got my site verified.

Email us if you need help with google webmaster tools, ( OUR SEARCH ENGINE EXPERT IS VERY GOOD AT THIS) if you have a websiteforge site this is super easy to do and very effective.

Then I repeated the process with new keywords by blogging about my new keywords anywhere I could, I blogged here and on other sites that had forums and blogs about this type of site.

(NOTE:THIS IN NO WAY MEANS THIS WILL WORK FOR YOU AS EACH SITE IS UNIQUE) (OUR SEARCH ENGINE EXPERT CAN BEST ADVISE YOU ON YOUR UNIQUE SITE.) Keep in mind I discovered this worked for me merely by accident, I just figured I'll give it a try and see what happens (can't hurt right !!) and now I've hit the top of all major search engines.....

Just by posting in websiteforges forum I am found by that as well, so keep posting there and add your sites URL.

The Difference Between HTTP and HTTPS on your ecommerce website shopping cart pages.

Website FACTS MANY PEOPLE ARE UNAWARE OF:

**The main difference between http:// and https:// is It's all about keeping you secure**

HTTP stands for HyperText Transport Protocol, which is just a fancy way of saying it's a protocol (a language, in a manner of speaking) for information to be passed back and forth between web servers and clients.

The important thing is the letter S which makes the difference between HTTP and HTTPS.

The S (surprise surprise) stands for "Secure".

If you visit a website or webpage, and look at the address in the web browser, it will likely begin with the following: http://. This is standard, however when it comes to the shopping cart area where you enter your Credit Card Number .....it should says https://

HTTP:// means that the website is talking to your browser using the regular unsecure' language. In other words, it is possible for someone to "eavesdrop" on your computer's conversation with the website.

This is why you never ever enter your credit card number in an http shoping cart page!

But if the web address begins with https://, that basically means your computer is talking to the website in a secure code that no one can eavesdrop on.

HTTP:// is perfectly safe for a website that is just informational, where no sensitive information is being passed.

You understand why this is so important, right?

If a website ever asks you to enter your credit card information,
you should automatically look to see if the web address begins with https://. If it doesn't, there's no way you're going to enter sensitive information like a credit card number or will you? I wanted to share a few simple things I've learned that can help you avoid building a website that doesnt make your customer/visitors want to stay or purchase from your website.

My website is just informational but I follow these same rules. Except on my personal website.

Avoid music that plays automatically in the background. Always give customers the option to play it IF they wish.

Consider this: Your at work browsing for a gift for someone and all of a sudden loud music begins to play.....everyone in the office including your boss turns to look...and you arent supposed to be browsing the internet at work !! Do you think this client will come back to your website again after that?

Avoid making the buying process take forever. The simpler the better. This is a common mistake on many e-commerce websites. Example: If your at home with kids running around playing and your trying to hurry up and purchase a gift for them, do you want to wait 5 minutes just to be able to checkout, with the chance of the kids seeing what your buying? Not likely...

Offer a reason to shop with you, it's a competitive market out there...incentives, incentives, incentives.

If your asking them to sign up on your website, give them a reason to want to.

Such as: First 10 members to sign up get free shipping on all orders under $20.00 or something like this.

Regarding Keywords: These have to be the most important part of your site.....if you use words like "build my website" or "informational website" and your site has nothing to do with this, well suffice it to say, it wont be relevant in the search engines.

Use your keywords on the pages of your site, often. Use the footer area of your pages to also display keywords and you can even make them into links.

Hopefully the information here will help your informational or ecommerce website prosper. My website has hit number #1 in google for "help build my ecommerce website" and #4 for "help buld my website", Use those keywords !!! And more importantly Buy an ecommerce website or an informational website from us and you too can have this success in the search engines.

Help build my website has the newest, all FREE, html codes the internet has to offer. I have recently updated alot of the pages and will be updating them again soon.....you'll find awesome html codes here.

I have made the fields on my contact us form mandatory because a few people have emailed asking for codes and didnt enter their email, sorry for the extra steps to email me now, but I cant send html codes to you with no return email :-)

Everyone asks.....do you have a place I can see stock images? The answer is YES !!!!!!

You will want to keep an eye on the graphics/images page in the coming days, as it will take me some time to get them all on there ..........I will be adding around 1,200,000 images to this page in the form of zip files..(you will need a program to unzip them)...they will be named as to whats in the file, so you need only download those you are interested in.

Here is a small taste of whats coming for this page, images of letters of the alphabet, people, animals, americana, skylines, images of N.Y., architecture, art, birds, awards, backgrounds, borders, black and white images, business images, cartoon images, celebrations, childrens, Christmas, clothing, crafts, currency, enviromental, family................just to name a few..... this list will be quite extensive.......be sure to check back often as I will add some everyday !!!!!
